You know what provides joy and inspiration and energy? Food! That’s right, food. It’s not the enemy. It’s our friend. It keeps us alive. It brings us together. So here’s what I want you to do. I want you to go straight to the kitchen, the grocery, the specialty store or that new bakery you’ve only read about. Your goal? To tantalize your taste buds and indulge in flavors. Treat yourself.

Now, I don’t mean going completely mad only to feel badly about yourself later. What I mean is indulge a little. If you’re a chocolate lover, pop into a specialty store and buy one (or four) amazing pieces of chocolate. If you’re a spice lover, buy a spice you’ve always dreamed of cooking with. If there’s a restaurant you’ve desired to visit but feel like you don’t have the budget, call for a takeout order of an appetizer or bowl of soup. It’s amazing what decadence can be affordably (both time-wise and monetarily) found and enjoyed with a glass of house your house.

Aside from my occasional splurge on chocolate covered orange peels and specialty food items, I’m known to keep a box of Star Wars fruit chews in my bottom desk drawer. Although these are not the most flavorful things I’ve ever eaten, I do enjoy the flavors. I also enjoy the shapes and love the packaging. It makes my day fun.
